I am not a pro makeup artist but I love makeup and I needed a set of brushes which have the best quality in the best possible price. Because I didn’t wanted to spend much. So, after doing a long research of makeup brushes, I finally found my savior and these are my Real Techniques Sam’s Pick set package which consists of six essential brushes that you need for doing the whole makeup. These are no longer available at the official website of real techniques as this was a limited edition but you might get yours from flipkart or amazon. I got mine from flipkart. It costed me INR1345 (obviously this was a discounted price). There was no damage in the package or so and they are 100% real.
So, you have got a Multitasking brush, a setting brush, a buffing brush, a pointed foundation brush, an essential crease brush (set exclusive) and a fine liner brush.
So, it comes in a plastic box. When you open it you get the foam made box which has got hollows cut out in it, in the shape of brush. Its very light weight. And its pink with real techniques written all over it. And on the back, you will find detailed information about each brush and Samantha Chapman’s (Sam) picture as well.
My thoughts on the Packaging :
The packaging I must say was very attractive because of the color pink and I really like the idea of keeping the brushes in a hollow space of foam making room for brushes to keep them soft. Also, its not at all heavy in case you are wondering.
MULTITASKING BRUSH :
This brush is a round and fluffy brush. Its perfect for applying blusher on my cheeks. Seriously I love the size of this brush. Its blends out so nicely and you can apply blush using this brush for a natural look and obviously you can built up more colour by taking more product. The bristles are not too compact, they have spaces in between and I love the fact its fluffy. So, the multitasking brush is not multitasking for me but its a good blush brush for me.
This brush is appropriate for setting the areas that you have concealed using your concealer. I find it difficult to set the whole face, so I just set the areas which gets oily throughout the day like my T-zone as well as my under eyes. The size is perfect for this because I can’t work with a big brush to accurately set it properly under the eyes and my t-zone. So, that’s why I found it perfect for this job. I sometimes also use this to apply my highlighter precisely on the top of my cheekbones, the bridge of my nose and the brow-bone.
Buffing brush is one of my favourites. This is very dense and is really soft just like feather. And it does its job perfectly. You know sometimes when you are in rush and you don’t wanna take alot of time to apply the base, you need to get hold on this brush because it covers up the whole face quickly. It give the skin a nice coverage. I am a person who just can’t tolerate the strokes that brushes leaves while applying foundation but this guy, if used in a proper way, give you a flawless base. You need to work it up in circular motion and cover the whole face and neck evenly.
POINTED FOUNDATION BRUSH:
Its a nice small sized pointed foundation brush which I personally don’t like using for putting on my foundation. I can’t work the foundation in my skin using such a small sized brush. Honestly, I don’t use this brush much but I use it for blending in my concealer under the hollows of my cheekbones, on the bridge of my nose and t-zone generally. But I love blending in the concealer under my eyes using my miracle complexion sponge because it gives a flawless effect that I want.
My Rating: 3.5/5
ESSENTIAL CREASE BRUSH:
Well, the essential crease brush is a set exclusive brush which is small sized brush, accurate for blending the eye shadow into the crease. I love this brush because it’s so soft on my eyes lids and it blends smoothly. It’s very handy and can be used to apply highlighter on the small areas like my brow bone and the bridge of my nose. But I use it for my eye shadow only.
FINE LINER BRUSH:
I am a huge fan of liners. I love doing dramatic and winged eyeliners. So, I was so excited to use it for liner and its really nice for eyeliner. I also tried using it for filling in my brows. And now I don’t need anything else to fill in my brows. I just take a little amount of matching eye shadow and fill in my brows and it’s amazing.
I have been using these brushes since last three months. This is like a lot of time for a person like me to stay to one brand. I really have fallen in love with RT. I have got the miracle complexion sponge as well. If you wanna know about it, then see my detailed review here.
I am sure there are so many more high end brushes like this or may be better ranges out there that I haven’t tried yet. Till then these are the best in my list. But I would definitely try the others soon.
