Firstly, we should understand what actually causes dandruff.

Dandruff occurs when 3 things come together.

A natural occurring organism commonly found on everyone’s scalp.

  • Sebum

The oily substance produced by scalp.

Malessezia breaks down Sebum creating a skin irritant called Oleic Acid.

  • Scalp Sensitivity

Everyone has Oleic Acid on their scalp. But only 50% of people are highly sensitive to it.

This sensitivity causes dandruff.

 

Signs of Dandruff

The Early signs of dandruff are:

  • Visible Flakes
  • Itching
  • Redness
  • Irritation

Dandruff also has some associated problems like hair fall and hair breakage. Factors like Dry – Cold weather and stress can make dandruff condition worse. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis is regarded as the extreme dandruff by many experts. In such cases the flakes turn greasy with a yellow colour.

It is difficult to change your individual sensitivity towards Oelic Acid, which is one of the reasons causing dandruff.

Also, suppressing Sebum is very difficult.

Ensure to keep a proper grooming routine to control your dandruff problem.

  1.  Brushing your Hair

Use soft brush or comb on your scalp and always make firm strokes of comb. Otherwise this will carry oil from the Scalp, where it can cause dandruff.

       2. Treat your Scalp with Care

Avoid any scalp irritation

  • Never wash your hair with hot water.
  • Don’t rub towel forcefully.
  • Avoid using blow dryers on high heat settings.

3. Maintain a Healthy Diet

Reducing intake of sugars and simple carbs could lower the inflammation, minimizing the appearance of flakes.

Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet is a good choice.
